Push

Written by Olga

Push is the second most popular ad block format. It lets you add site visitors to a push subscription database and automatically send them ads.

A web push looks like a personal message or an important notification from the site that appears on the screen on top of other open windows on desktop devices, or in the notification shade on a smartphone.

The format is quite effective and is in demand among advertisers. This ad format lets you monetize traffic even when the user is not on your site.

Creating a block

Go to the block management section of your site (Sites → Site name) and click the Add block button in the top-right corner of the page. Enter a name for the block and select the Push Ads format.

Push block settings

When creating a Push block, additional settings are available that let you flexibly control the behavior of the subscription request.

Script Variant

Select the script type:

  • Push — the standard variant.

  • Push Proxy — bypasses all detectors, including ad blockers. Recommended if the partner specifically requests this variant.

Timeout Before Request / Timeout on Scroll

  • Timeout Before Request — the subscription request appears N seconds after the page loads, rather than immediately.

  • Timeout on Scroll — the request appears after the user starts scrolling the page.

Repeat Request

The interval after which the script shows the subscription request again to users who previously declined it. Default — 3 hours.

Native Request Only

When enabled, the script shows only the standard browser subscription request, without custom elements.

Enable Calendar Pushes (iOS only)

iOS does not support standard push notifications, so to reach the iOS audience you can enable calendar pushes.

⚠️ Important: if the site has traffic from Yandex, enabling this option is not recommended — it may lead to lower positions in search results.

Universal Script

Lets you use the same code across several mirrors or networks of sites. All of them will be identified as a single domain specified in the site settings.

Aggressive Request

When this option is enabled:

  • The user's screen dims at the moment the subscription request is shown.

  • The subscription conversion rate becomes higher.

Installing the script

After creating the block, select the script variant: Push or Push Proxy — depending on the partner's requirements.

The difference between Push Proxy and regular Push: the proxy variant bypasses all detectors, including ad blockers.

Step 1. Download the JS file

Download the sw.js file and place it in the root directory of your site. Once placed, the file must be accessible at: https://yourdomain/sw.js

Click the Download button to download the file.

Step 2. Verify correct placement

After the file is placed in the site root, click the Check button. The system will verify that the file is accessible at the required address.

Step 3. Copy and place the script

After a successful check, the Copy button becomes active — copy the JavaScript code and place it on every page of your site.

After this, users will start receiving a request offering to subscribe to notifications. Click Done to finish the setup.

Proxy push (Push Proxy)

If you need a proxy push:

  1. Download the sw.js file and place it in the root of your site so that it opens at https://yourdomain/sw.js.

  2. Download the .php proxy file and place it in the root of your site so that it opens at https://yourdomain/bf71bb5.php. The php file name is generated automatically.

  3. After a successful check, a JavaScript code appears in the right-hand area, which must be placed on every page of your site.

  4. Once the code is placed on your site, users will receive a message offering to subscribe to notifications.

The difference between a proxy push and a universal one is that the proxy push bypasses all detectors, including ad blockers.

Please note: pushes work only on HTTPS sites.
