Video is an ad format in which you upload a ready-made video clip in mp4 format to Kadam. The clip is played to the user in the publisher's player, and when the user clicks the video they are redirected to the URL you specified.
Video formats
The Video formats field defines the types of video players and placements where the ads of this campaign can be shown. This is a required field: at least one type must be selected. You can tick several checkboxes at once — in that case the campaign will participate in auctions across all the selected placement types.
Available types:
Interstitial — full-screen video advertising that is shown between transitions inside an app or a site (for example, when switching between game levels or between screens). The clip takes up the user's entire screen; after it is shown or skipped, the user returns to the main content.
In-stream (pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll) — video advertising embedded into the publisher's main video content:
pre-roll — before the main video starts;
mid-roll — in the middle of the main video;
post-roll — after the main video ends.
Out-stream — video advertising outside the main video content: inside the body of an article, in a feed, or in dedicated banner slots on the page. The player is usually activated when it enters the user's viewport.
Other — other types of video placements that do not fall into the categories above (non-standard players, custom integrations, etc.).
Recommendation: if your creatives are suitable for several show scenarios, tick all the relevant types — this increases reach and the volume of available traffic. If the campaign targets only one type of placement (for example, pre-roll only), keep just that checkbox — this prevents impressions in unsuitable players and gives cleaner statistics.
The setting is applied at the campaign level: all creatives inside the campaign will be eligible to be shown only in the selected placement types. You can change the set of Video formats later in campaign editing mode.
Where to create a Video creative
Video creatives are created inside a Video campaign on its materials page. If the campaign has no materials yet, an empty state is displayed with the "Add Video" button:
If materials already exist, the "Add Video" button is located in the upper-right corner above the materials list.
Creating a Video creative
After clicking "Add Video", the "Creating Video" panel opens on the right with the creative fields.
Form fields
Field | Description |
Title (required) | Creative name. Maximum 30 characters. The remaining character count is shown under the field. |
URL (required) | The link the user will be redirected to after clicking the video. The URL can contain Kadam macros (see below). |
Upload video (required) | Upload of the video file. Allowed extension — mp4. Maximum file size — 100 MB. |
Material start date | When to start serving the creative: "Instantly" (right after moderation) or a specific date and time. |
Pause after moderation | If enabled, after passing moderation the creative automatically goes into the "Paused" status instead of "Active" — useful if you are preparing materials in advance. |
Material stop date | Date and time of the automatic stop of the creative. |
Bids for geo | List of geos and the bid for each. You can add several groups via the "+ Add another bid" link. |
Rate | Bid value in USD for the selected geos. |
Video file requirements
Format: mp4.
Maximum size: 100 MB.
The clip must not contain VPAID wrappers or embedded third-party analytics — otherwise it will be rejected at moderation.
Recommended duration — 15 to 60 seconds. Clips that are too short or too long tend to show a low VCR.
Supported macros in the URL
The click-through URL can contain standard Kadam macros that are automatically substituted at click time. The available macros are shown as chips under the URL field in the creation/editing form — clicking a chip inserts the macro at the current cursor position in the URL.
The main available macros:
Macro | Description |
| Unique click ID (used for postback conversion tracking) |
| ID of the publisher site where the click occurred |
| Kadam creative ID |
| Kadam campaign ID |
| User's browser |
| User's OS version |
| User's browser language |
| User's city |
The full list of Kadam macros is available in the Macro setup article.
Example of a URL with macros:
https://landing.example.com/promo?cid={campaign_id}&aid={ad_id}&site={site_id}&clk={click_id}
Saving and submitting for moderation
Once the fields are filled in, two buttons are available:
"Create" — saves the creative and sends it to moderation. The form closes.
"Create and add more" — saves the current creative and keeps the form open to create the next one (the fields are reset). Convenient when you need to upload several clips in a row.
When saving, the system checks:
The file format (mp4 only).
The file size (no more than 100 MB).
That the required fields are filled in (Title, URL, file).
If a check fails, the error is displayed under the corresponding field — fix it and save again.
Once saved successfully, the creative goes into the "On moderation" status (moderation usually takes 30–60 minutes).
Editing a Video creative
To edit an existing creative, click "Edit" in the material row on the materials page. A panel opens with the same fields as during creation.
Changing the video file or the URL → re-validation and re-moderation.
Changing only the Title or the start/stop dates → no re-moderation required.
Changing Bids for geo — takes effect immediately after saving.
